Taryn's Story

Taryn Giles had felt that something was off. But after visiting the hospital she received a stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis which came as a complete shock, and was, in her words “very scary”.

The outpouring of love she felt from her community after being diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer was a huge factor in her healing journey.

“To be supported and loved and cared for through the community – there aren’t really words to describe the gratitude,” says Taryn.

First treated with chemotherapy then followed by surgery, she knew the road to recovery would not be easy. But support from donors that gave her access to services and treatment options that she otherwise wouldn’t have had, it gave her the courage to fight.

“The generosity of people who give and make these kinds of resources available – it’s a big thing and it helps people a great deal. Probably more than people will truly understand.”

Thanks to the care she received, Taryn is now enjoying a life cancer free. Back to spending time with family, friends and doing what she loves.
